cktrl fuses modern classical and jazz on new EP, robyn

Expansive new track from cktrl. Fans of Duval Timothy will be instantly drawn to songs deeply immersive modern classical sound.

This track is delicately layered and highly expressive, with cktrl’s smooth saxophone draping the song in a cloak of sophisticated serenity.

Lifted from his forthcoming EP titled ‘robyn’, the title track features production from the aforementioned Duval Timothy. The EP also sees cktrl working with the likes of lb Kamara (creative direction), Coby Sey, Shirley Tetteh and Purple Ferdinand to create a vital exploration of contemporary-classical from the black perspective.

On the project, cktrl says: “‘Robyn’ at its core is heartbreak and is just really sentimental. It’s a journey of losing a love but it ends with optimism as you find strength to love again.”

The four-track project will arrive on November 27th via left-field London label and musical movement Touching Bass, which seems like a perfect fit.
