We rarely post remixes on the site, but when we heard this flip by Ash Walker, we just had to share it! The London-based producer has reworked’ Butterfly’, one of the standout tracks from fellow Londoner Cleo Sol’s debut album, Rose In The Dark.
The soothing, buttery smooth vocals of the original remains intact, but Walker drops a little intergalactic steeze dust on the track turning it into a late-night smokers delight!
What once was a stripped-down acoustic ballad, is now a dubby head-nodding number. The remix features Ebi Soda’s VVilhelm (trombone & grand piano) and Hari Lee (bass), plus Beth Hopkins (saxophone). Walker really shows off his sonic wizardry skills on this one, tune in below.
Butterfly is the first instalment of IXCHEL’s Session Series – an intimate collection of recordings with a focus on environment, personnel and the moment.
Butterfly Remix is available as a free download from Ash’s Bandcamp.
