Manchester-based composer, producer, and DJ Henrietta Smith-Rolla, AKA Afrodeutsche, is releasing her score for the 2019 documentary Kamali.
Directed by Sasha Rainbow, the short film tells the story of seven-year-old Kamali Moorthy, the only girl skateboarder in a South-East Indian fishing village.
Kamali sees Smith-Rolla shunning additional instrumentation to craft six gorgeous piano compostons.
The EP which is out on October 8th is accompanied by a sound library of manipulated synth sounds created by Smith-Rolla for fellow producers and composers. The collection inspired by her work with the Kyma sound design environment is intended for use as a tool for compositional storytelling, based around colour.
