New & Noteworthy: 44th Move – Hope ft. Takuya Kuroda

New & Noteworthy: 44th Move - Hope ft. Takuya Kuroda.

It’s always exciting when two of your favourite artists collaborate, and it’s even better when the result is as good as this!

44th Move is multifaceted musicians Alfa Mist and Richard Spaven who recently announced their eponymous project would arrive later this month via Black Acre.

Enlisting the virtuoso trumpet playing of Takuya Kuroda, the song starts with nothing more than gentle piano chords, slowly the delicate rhythmic flow that runs throughout the track kicks in. Together, their musical voices are a match made in heaven. It’s no secret that Alfa is a skilled wordsmith and his hushed musings are magnificent.

“Creating the sound was just a coming together where we discovered that we shared a lot of the same influences. We got to writing straight away – before we really got to know each other. I found it easy with a ton of inspiration. Ideas kept coming and we were on the same page. In retrospect we want 44th to have an edge – it’s a ‘heart on your sleeve’ project where we can express all those hip hop and broken beat records.” – Richard Spaven

The EP follows Alfa Mist’s recent solo piano project ‘On My Ones’, and Spaven’s 2018 LP ‘Real Time’.
