KwaZulu-Natal- born guitarist and vocalist Sibusile Xaba is releasing his second studio album, called NGIWU SHWABAD, this February.
Recorded in one continuous take in May this year at Studio Pigalle in Paris France by Felix Remy, NGIWU SHWABADA threads together Maskandi, malombo, the desert blues and jazz, albeit through his magnetic individual filter.

Sibusile explains the philosophy behind his second album: ‘The record is a dedication to my ancestors for all the love, blessings and guidance they continue to share. These songs are conversations I have had with them, transmitted into songs to be shared with mankind. The elements of the record are waters & the great feminine spirit.’
It features Xaba on guitar and vocals, his long-time musical companion Kholofelo ‘Naftali’ Mphago also on vocals and tenor saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings on the 18-minute closing track Phefumula.
As expected, the lead track Uyahlupha is as equally brilliant as anything on his debut double album – just hit play below and hear for yourself!
