Following his incredibly diverse and exciting Go Get Ice Cream and Listen to Jazz LP from earlier this year, New York-based artist Kassa Overall makes a more than welcome return with ‘Please Don’t Kill Me’.
For his latest work the drummer, producer and rapper connect with two exceptional musical talents in the form of rising vibraphonist Joel Ross and trumpeter extraordinaire Theo Croker.
Continuing where his last album left off ‘Please Don’t Kill Me’ takes his emphatic blend of hip-hop and jazz to new and interesting places.
Shaped by a punchy beat to which Overall sings along to with an unexpressive delivery, Ross provides the gorgeously smooth vibes while Croker’s trumpet blows freely at the forefront of the front. Along the way, you’ll also hear the sounds of faint piano notes and warm harp plucks.
This guy never disappoints, but he always seems to surprise.
The new cut is lifted from his upcoming album entitled, I Think I’m Good which is set to arrive in January.
