Natural Lateral will release their debut LP ‘Cogito Ergo Jam’ on 28th October via Social Joy.
The four-peice consisting of Aziz Mustafa, Ozan Nidayi, Oli Arlotto, Malte From and Tim Balasubramaniam was born organically over the past few years out of endless and spontaneous jam sessions at the Lazy Robot Studio in North London.
Citing influences from Azymuth to Soft Machine, Coltrane to Liston-Smith the band fuses rhythmic elements from funk and Latin jazz to syncopated odd meter timings. Although steeped in jazz their open-minded spirit sees them venturing into new and exciting musical territory.
As well as announcing the LP Natural Lateral have also shared the first single, called ‘Bossa Blue’, which you can stream below.
The new track the perfect example of their sound, a hip and heady combination of pulsating Bossa groove backed by a swinging bassline, meticulous jazz percussion and glistening synths. The track is given that extra dose of cool by the soothing electric piano.
