Broadcaster and DJ Tina Edwards kicked off her debut UK tour yesterday, the six night tour acts as a precursor towards the first broadcast of her upcoming new Worldwide FM show, Universal Sanctuary.
After a short break away from WW Daily, her morning show on Gilles Peterson’s award-winning station, Edwards returns with a fresh show that explores the junction between Jazz, electronic music and DJ culture. The show will be produced by fellow DJ, broadcaster and promoter Charles Vaughan (Birdland Kissa, Resolution).
Speaking about the new project, Edwards says:
“For me, Jazz has been an entry point into club culture. It’s not the typical experience; the fluidity of musicians – especially in the British live scene – have been inspiring to me and my work as a broadcaster and DJ. My sets and musical tastes have become broader and more club-focused, and I’m excited to reflect that in this new show and in my first UK tour. We want US to feel like somewhere that listeners can physically come to – a literal music sanctuary, and I’m excited to bring the ideology of the show to life with the UK tour. I’m really looking forward to working with Charles – he’s incredibly talented, and his sets are both technical and just awesome, shameless fun”.
Expect the show to feature upfront sounds, live sessions, chat and the great and the good from the global DIY scenes. Tune in.
