Maria Somerville set to release debut LP All My People

Twistedsoul ~ Maria Somerville

Having made a reputation over the last four years with her stunning live shows, Irish bedroom producer Maria Somerville continues to ready the release of her debut mini-LP All My People.

The music on the record is a collection of works recorded across Dublin, Cornamona and Inis Óirr – a tiny island sitting off Ireland’s west coast.

Taking inspiration from the Irish wilderness Somerville creates dense, ethereal soundscapes and sparse percussion with her bewitching vocals floating on top.

Speaking about the album Sommerville says: “It’s taken a while to share things, but I’m so happy this collection of songs and sounds are about to go on a journey of their own. I spent some time experimenting at home in Connemara, Inis Oírr and in the studio space I shared with some dear friends at Oxford Lane in Dublin. So many safe and sacred spaces made the finale of making the record a real trip.”

Starting off slow, the title track gradually builds up as subtle layers are added into the mix to serve as the murky backdrop to her airy vocals. A truly beautiful track that perfectly marries dreamy ambient drone with folk melodies and starry-eyed pop.

Absolutely stunning stuff – the album can’t come soon enough!
