He’s back! Finnish musician and composer Jimi Tenor delivers another top-notch 7″ on Philophon.
With a sound that’s uniquely his own, Tenor continues to impress but what makes these new tracks that extra bit special, is that this time Tenor has teamed up with the two glorious gospel queens Florence Adooni and Lizzy Amaliyenga from Bolgatanga/Northern Ghana.
Kicking off with Vocalize My Luv, a charmingly presented lure for love. The secret of the song is that drummer Ekow Alabi Savage’s upfront high-life beat is triggering a Tenor-operated Korg MS-20 bass synth. Ki’igba is a classic Frafra gospel song by Alogte Oho, completed with some joyous flute by master Tenor.
Two killer tracks that seamlessly merge afro, gospel and jazz grooves. Another truly unique and refreshing record from an artist always willing to break new ground.
According to the label, the two tracker is the first insight into his next album on Philophon, coming later this year.
Vocalize My Luv / Ki’igba is out 25/01 via Philophon – pre-order here.
