The Rewind No 63: Georges-Edouard Nouel – Chodo

Spiritual afro jazz funk with west indies and latin influences by Georges-Edouard Nouel.

The first release on the Rebirth On Wax label was this wonderful reissue from jazz pianist Georges-Edouard Nouel. Originally recorded in Paris in the spring/summer of 1975 Chodo features seven cuts of deep spiritual afro jazz funk with west indies and latin influences. Georges-Edouard Nouel is better known for his collaboration with Noel McGhie, Steve Potts or Roland Brival but his only solo album is essential to any lovers of deep jazz records. With original copies of Chodo going for silly money this was a welcome reissue of an absolute jazz classic. Listen to the groovy breaks and mellow Rhodes of Chandernagor below.

Tracklisting:

1. Mazurka
2. Chandernagor
3. Solingen
4. Meci Bon Die

Chodo reissue is out now via Rebirth On Wax – buy from SOTU or Mr Bongo.
