The Expansions return to Albert’s Favourites with new EP, Mosaic

The Expansions return to Albert's Favourites with new EP, MosaicLondon label Albert’s Favourites is a gift that keeps on giving… Quickly following up sublime releases from Jonny Drop and Aeshim we’re about to be blessed with a three tracker by jazz funk quartet The Expansions.

The new record titled Mosaic is a hefty new EP from a band whose reputation exploded this spring with the release of debut album Murmuration.

Today we’re bringing you the project’s second track titled ‘Transcoso’ a slow grooving slice of down-tempo magic that they have become so much-loved and lauded. Heavily inspired by Azimuth, a hypnotic beat from drummer Jonny Drop eventually builds to a euphoric, almost slow disco climax for the final section.

Over six minutes long the cut is laid back yet full of energy, relaxing yet vibrant with lots of sonic changes in between.

The EP drops tomorrow on gorgeous 12″ vinyl, wrapped in artwork designed by Jonny Drop. Pre-order here.

We’ve pretty much had this one repeat since yesterday evening, and think you will too as soon as hit that play.

1. Mosaic
2. Transcoso
3. Mariposa
