Following on from top-notch releases from EABS and Surly and Naphta, independent vinyl label Astigmatic Records deliver another exceptional offering in the form of Jaubi.

The Hindi experimental ensemble previously reimagined J Dilla on their 2016 release ‘The Deconstructed Ego’. This time around they reinterpret the Nas ‘Illmatic’ classic ‘NY State of Mind’ to beautiful effect.

Picking up where they left off this new cut is not an epic departure from their previous outing, with the trio focusing on their unique fusion of Indian classical music and hip-hop.

On the flip side London-based producer Al Dobson Jr recreates Dj Premier’s steps, which used a sample from Joe Chambers “Mind Rain”, but using Jaubi’s samples instead.
