Last year, the ever-excellent Amsterdam label Music From Memory reissued a sublime EP from Workdub the St. Louis project formed by musicians Virgil Work Jnr and Nicholas Georgieff.
Now the label returns with four tracks drawn from Virgil ‘Vincent’ Work Jnr’s little-known cassette-only debut from 1987.
The release titled “Fast Foward” came from a series of late-night sessions with Vincent’s brother Scott and reflected a more stripped back and raw musical approach to electronic, new wave music.
With no idea where the session was going to take them the four tracks on the release reflect the spirit of improvisation.
As Virgil himself explains, the title of the album, in fact, came about because it felt “as if I had fast forwarded to a different sound”.
