Berlin threesome White Noise Trio dropped on our radar last week and had us hooked immediately. The Berlin-based jazz group consisting of Robin Hartkopf (Drums), Stefan Merz (Piano) and Florian Dupuy (Double Bass) are set to release a new 7-track EP next week titled “Spectrum,” and the record is a fascinating blend of their different influences. Following the path of their musical heroes like Avishai Cohen, Keith Jarrett and Brian Blade the trio’s take on modern jazz is a sublime fusion where classical lines of chamber music meet the loop-driven approach of electronic dance music, combined with the energy and complex measures of progressive rock.
