With Fredwave preparing for the release of his forthcoming debut album, we are treated to a little taste of the project, in the shape of the visuals for “Kno Betta,” which tells the tale of an all too common occurrence in many streets of London, namely knife crime over petty incidents.
In a statement about the video, director Marco Grey said:
The aim of this video was to critique the concept of hyper-masculinity and pride that exists amongst inner city (predominately black) youth in London. Growing up with excessive amounts of fear and pride is dangerous and is ultimately what leads to Fredwave’s demise in the video. The song “Kno Betta” which was produced and written by Fredwave is a monologue of thought from the perspective of a young person who accepts their fate because they know no better.
