Hamburg-based producer Luka teams up with L.A singer Laura Darlington on “Shimmer” the third track in Friends Of Friends Singles Series. Built on a bed of luscious guitar work and disintegrating percussion, “Shimmer” represents a softer, more considered side of beat work, building on Darlington’s blissful harmonies with a deft that touch that few maintain.
“‘Shimmer’ is very L.A. influenced,” Luka told The Fader. I tried to catch the vibe that makes the city so special. As in all my songs there’s no story, it’s just a feeling, a certain vibe. I had this instrumental finished quite some time ago and I’ve always loved Laura’s voice, especially on the tunes she did with Flying Lotus. I got in contact with her and we did this track [by] sending back and forth and finished it the end of last year.”
