Introducing a new outfit from London called Kala and their debut single “Island”, which deserves a spin (or two). The brainchild of Emer Dineen and Michael Crean, who alongside their 6-piece band make expertly crafted contemporary soul and jazz. Taken from their upcoming EP, “Islands” is a stunning introduction.

The skittering hi-hats jump from beat to beat in an awkwardly coherent way as cool guitar riffs meet Dineen’s velvety melodies, some fittingly elegant brass and string sounds create the perfect jazz/soul vibe.

This song has my ears well and truly peeled for the rest of the EP. Enjoy!
