The Weather Station Details ‘Loyalty’ LP, Shares New Single

I’ve been waiting for this since i first heard the brilliant “What Am I Going To Do With Everything I Know” EP back in October. This new track,”Way It Is, Way It Could Be”, more than lives up to my expectations. Toronto artist Tamara Lindeman aka The Weather Station once again offers her distinct brand of effortless folk, one that is gripping and intriguing.

Her forthcoming third album was recorded at La Frette Studios in France with Afie Jurvanen (Bahamas) and Robbie Lackritz (Feist), Loyalty is said to crystallise her lapidary song-craft into eleven emotionally charged vignettes and intimate portraits, redolent of fellow Canadians Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, and David Wiffen, but utterly her own.

She’s an extraordinary singer and instrumentalist—on Loyalty she plays guitar, banjo, and keys—but Lindeman has always been a songwriter’s songwriter, recognised for her intricate verse, filled with double meanings, ambiguities, and complex metaphors. With the LP out on May 12th, this dazzling taste of the record makes it seem like a lifetime away.
