While we’re still waiting on Tink’s Timbaland-produced album, which is reportedly nearly complete (Timbaland recently shared clips on Instagram), today we get a DJ Wes produced track titled “Sounds Good.”
Urban Outfitters recently announced that they are now the worlds biggest seller of vinyl records. Although that may sound pretty shocking at first, Urban Outfitters is one of the only corporations which sell vinyl worldwide, the majority of vinyl sales still come from an army of independent record stores, but when you look at the number of sales on a worldwide scale, Urban Outfitters come out on top.
Vinyl sales have been steadily rising for a number of years now, with 6.1 million albums sold in the U.S. alone in 2013, the highest number since 1991 (see Statista’s chart below). Jack White recently broke vinyl sales records with his latest album Lazaretto, selling 40,000 copies in the first week of release. It’s worth noting that Billboard conducted their own survey and concluded that Amazon is in fact the largest seller of vinyl in the US. The online giant has a 12.3% market share, followed by Urban Outfitters with an 8.1% market share.
Following the announcement of his highly anticipated debut album Xen, Venezuelan producer Arca, has shared the music video to ‘Thievery’, the album’s lead single.
Take a look at the main title sequence from the new Showtime series, The Affair, with the brand new original song “Container” written and performed by Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Fiona Apple, who constructed a treatment for her previously unreleased song, largely inspired by the show’s narrative. Hopefully we’ll get a full version of “Container” soon.
Flying Lotus’ new album You’re Dead! is currently streaming in collaboration with Boiler Room. The stream, which you can listen to above until 22.00pm tonight, comes with visuals by Xavier Magot, a full-length film called Psychadelic Death Trip.
