Flying Lotus is preparing for the release of his album You’re Dead!, and yesterday the Brainfeeder boss dropped off his latest record from the project, “Never Catch Me.” The song features Kendrick Lamar, who rhymes over the frenetic, jazzy backdrop with an energy and lyrical skills that we’ve come to love and expect from him. Flying Lotus told Rolling Stone that the collaboration came about naturally, with Lamar recording his verses at Lotus’ house. “The funny part is, though, that he wanted to keep that shit for his album,” he said. “When I first sent him the track, he was trying to convince me to give it to him. Like, ‘Nah, man, I need that.'”
FlyLo’s You’re Dead! drops on October 6th via Warp Records, and will also feature Thundercat, Snoop Dogg, Herbie Hancock and even his own alter ego, Captain Murphy. Listen to “Never Catch Me” below.
