Following on from 2012’s single ‘Fresh Eyes’, Nautic are back with an EP of new material titled ‘Navy Blue‘ – out digitally next week on DEEK Recordings. The trio, consisting of Nathan Jenkins aka Bullion, Tic Zogson and Laura Groves come together once again to create 4 slices of slick and sophisticated 80’s affected pop. It’s a record that wears its influences on its sleeve, with clear nods to Fleetwood Mac, Robert Wyatt, Cocteau Twins to name a few.

‘Show’ is a breezy and insanely catchy duet between Jenkins and Groves. ‘Lay Back’ is a thing of dreams, featuring soft synths and a wonderful guest vocal from Londoner Laura Coulson, while ‘Freedom On The Floor’ features Groves going solo over an electro-soul groove that will leave you lost in a Balearic haze. ‘Navy Blue’, the closer and title track finds the band at their most Cocteau-esque with lovely reverb-rich guitar, sugary synths, beautiful clarinet and gorgeous vocal harmonising that are hard to resist.
