Performance artist and purveyor of the pagan gospel, Josiah Wise returns with some darkly magical music. His latest project which he revealed yesterday via his Soundcloud is entitled DEATH 4THE DOLEFUL and it’s a deeply spiritual concoction of gospel, experimental r&b, folk and industrial sounds that are wrapped in his vast vocal range. The fiercely independent Wise is unlike any other artist, existing comfortably in his own space, he describes himself as the lovechild of Kirk Franklin and Björk and stands at the cutting edge of fearlessness in black music. This new three track EP definitely feels like Wise is growing in confidence as an artist and has pushed his sound into a more focused space, communicating his experimentalism in a more refined way.
