“Every time I sip tea I feel like I am intaking wisdom”

Issue‘s recently released debut album Liquid Wisdom is easily one of the most weird and wonderful hip hop records to come out in many a year. The 19-year-old son of Bay Area rapper E-40, ISSUE is concocting a heady brew of tea related ” dream rap”, drawing from a broad range of influences like Pink Floyd, Boards Of Canada, Aphex Twin, Death Grips and Lil B. His latest cut entitled Waterfalls is like a meditation piece, soft piano keys drift gently along against some smooth sax and a blissed-out rap that never gets out of first gear. ISSUE does Hip Hop like you are unlikely to have heard it before, with his bizarre soundscapes sitting somewhere between Lil B and Max B. This track serves as the prelude to his forthcoming Teaholics Vol 1, a compilation album introducing the similarly blissed-out artists on his Teaholics label. Have a listen below.
