Tatsumi Akinobu (TA2MI) is a Jodo Shinshuu Buddhist monk from the countryside outside the city of Kumamoto in the South of Japan. As featured in the fascinating documentary KanZeOn , he is also a multi-talented musician – in addition to his skills as a battle DJ and beatboxer presented in the film, the release of Travel Through Worlds marks his debut as a producer. Having recently been diagnosed with a serious illness, it has tragically taken this sad news to spark the 34 year old in to finally releasing his music.

The release of two introductory tracks, Land of Ice and Grapevine Asia, prior to the full album gives some indication of the diversity of styles that TA2MI is able to wield in creating his own unique musical identity. Land of Ice seamlessly cycles through at least 5 genres within the space of 4 minutes, to exhilarating effect. Grapevine Asia is a dance floor ready cut that brings to mind Yellow Magic Orchestra and early Daft Punk. Showing exceptional attention to detail with both synthetic and natural sounds, the album is set to be an absorbing journey through electronic musical genres. Listen below and purchase the two tracks on bandcamp.
