CasaComica is a collaborative project between South African rapper/DJ/illustrator Spoek Mathambo and a group of artist friends from around the globe. The project started a year ago with the basic concept being that the group would send each other music files and keep an open dropbox to work on stuff simultaneously. It’s a truly international affair with the members of CasaComica coming from San Diego, Johannesburg, Copenhagen, New York, Malmo and Philadelphia, turning dropbox into their own recording studio ,clearly the internet hasn’t diminished these guys creative juices, note to David Byrne. Boasting the supreme vocals of Josiah Wise, the sombre opening gradually intensifies with the track growing into a unrelenting mix of hammering drums, sweeping guitar licks and swirling orchestral electronics.
