Closing his sixth album, Maraviglia, Gabriele Poso’s ‘Therapy’ is an eight-minute celebration of everything that makes this record so compelling: collective musicianship, deep groove, and the irreplaceable warmth of human performance. Recorded live to tape in southern Italy, the track unfolds with the patience and freedom of a genuine band locked into a shared moment.
A web of Afro-Caribbean percussion immediately establishes the pulse, with rolling congas, bongos, and hand-played rhythms creating a hypnotic foundation. Over this, lush Rhodes chords drift through the mix, bathing the track in a rich late-70s glow. Rather than rushing toward a destination, “Therapy” lets its groove breathe, gradually evolving from a spiritual jazz meditation into a joyous dancefloor excursion.

The repeated vocal chant functions more as a rhythmic mantra than a lyric, drawing listeners deeper into the music’s trance-like flow. Midway through, the arrangement strips back to spotlight Poso’s percussion mastery before the full ensemble surges forward once again, lifted by warm brass accents and an irresistible rhythmic pocket.
Speaking about the song, Gabriele explains: “Therapy, I guess, the key point of the whole album. My intention at the beginning was to make a record with a completely different direction, more strategic, more market-oriented. But once we started recording, everything kind of went “wrong” 🙂 Or maybe it went exactly right, because it opened up a totally different album instead.
It became something with a live attitude, strong emotion, love, and a complete surrender to the music and its flow.
“Therapy” is the most representative track of this approach. Nobody knew what note we were going to play. It was around 2 a.m., after a few drinks, when we just locked in with the music with an ancestral and spiritual connection that felt beyond us, like the soul was leading the session. crazy experience – full on.
A hymn to music itself, a live recording session with the band, captured in real time, where nobody could predict what note we would play next. Music is the true queen in this moment. A space where cosmic connections and spirits communicate in direct harmony, without filters, pure and alive.”
In an age of hyper-processed production, ‘Therapy’ feels refreshingly alive. It is exactly what its title suggests: restorative, communal, and deeply human.
“”Born from pure improvisation after the session had ended, Therapy is an inner journey where hidden emotions rise to the surface and gently dissolve. With the lights off and no destination in mind, the music follows its own flow, becoming a space for reflection, release, and healing.” Aleana (Wife & Label Manager)
