Guest Playlist: Benjamin Samuels

We’re excited to welcome Benjamin Samuels back to Twistedsoul with a guest playlist.

Regular visitors to the site will know Samuels, the Australian saxophonist, clarinettist, producer and composer working at the crossroads of jazz, electronics and global traditions. Based in Sydney, he’s built a bold sound through improvisation, groove and a wide-open approach to influence.

His debut album Dissensation helped establish him as a distinctive new voice, and his recent EP Visions pushes that vision further with a broader cast of collaborators. Across both, his music moves fluidly between structure and spontaneity, with a strong feel for rhythm, texture and atmosphere.

The EP features his core band alongside international artists, including Spanish vocalist Rafita de Madrid and trumpeter Grifton Forbes-Amos. The project leans further into a space where composition and spontaneity intersect.

This guest playlist offers a snapshot of that same creative world: curious, expansive and rooted in jazz, reggae, flamenco and beyond. It reflects an artist who thrives on crossing boundaries without losing a clear sense of identity.

Press play and enjoy.
