Childhood friends and French musicians, producers, and multi-instrumentalists Axel Concato and Barth Corbelet started their experimental music careers as kids. While the duo hasn’t released much music together, they’ve produced for several other well-known names in the Parisian scene. Axel and Barth stay dedicated to producing surreal and cinematic soundscapes.
Cinema remains Bolbec’s primary language. “We always think in movie scenes”, they explain.
The duo returns to deliver an enchanting, dreamlike album that invites listeners to actively explore their imagination.
Under their Bolbec moniker, the duo recently unveiled their second full-length album, ‘Foutu Félin’, comprising 10 tracks, all born of creativity, transformational melodies, and the duo’s love of experimentation.
The album kicks off with ‘Café Frappé’, a track that builds a rhythm with electric piano, electric guitar, and other instruments, then adds synth. This track sets the theme for the entire album: instrumental, experimental, and sparking curiosity. ‘Le Prof de Gong’ starts spare and guitar‑led, then unfurls into a banjo‑piano waltz with wordless scat, reimagining one motif across shifting moods à la Morricone, Legrand and Barry.

The title track ‘Foutu Félin’ makes rich use of French sounds, including accordion, piano, and vocals, which together build a steady jazz rhythm. Meanwhile, ‘En Voiture’ masterfully blends classical instruments with jazz beats to create an atmospheric, easygoing melody.
As Shoaib wrote recently on the site. The duo have a way of making instrumental music feel like it’s quietly telling you a story, even when nothing is spelt out. ‘Fanny au Phare’ leans fully into that idea. It plays like a scene unfolding in slow motion, something reflective, slightly melancholic, but never heavy enough to weigh you down.
The album stays true to the sounds commonly associated with French music and gives listeners a sense of sipping Chocolat Chaud in a French cafe. The album closes with ‘Terrassée’, a blend of classical sounds and dramatic rhythms that creates a dreamlike listening experience.
Foutu Félin is one of those albums that you’ll have on repeat again and again (and again)!
