Pioneering Swiss DJ and electronic music producer Ripperton joins forces with Berlin-based singer, composer, and passionate aural storyteller Joy Frempong (OY) to create a beautiful, deeply moving piece of electronic music. And after three years in the making, ‘Sirens’ finally emerges.

For me, so many remixes can so easily fall flat, offering little more than a faint echo of the original.

Calibre’s recent reworks of ‘Take The L Train (To 8 Ave.)’ by Brooklyn Funk Essentials brilliantly flips the original. That’s also the case with the Clouds’ take on ‘Sirens’, which offers a full transformation.

Drawing on an ambient electronic palette, the track becomes an evocative, beatless, celestial drift that still hits with groove. Even without Frempong’s rich vocals, the remix opens up into its own dreamy, hypnotic world.

The rest of the 12″ / digital release absolutely delivers, with the stunning original joined by a powerful Melodydreamer edit and a tight instrumental.

For us, the Clouds mix steals the show, and it is our pleasure to premiere this one today.
