The Leftovers

Treat your taste buds to these mouthwatering leftovers!

Keeping up with the daily flood of music is impossible. We try to share everything, but gems slip through the cracks. The Leftovers fixes that (a little): every Friday, we dig through the emails and streaming services to drop five releases in bite-sized pieces we couldn’t ignore. This week, Danalogue, Brahja, Rosa Brunello, and more. Dig in and savour the finds.

Following the release of his debut solo single, ‘Sonic Hypnosis’, towards the end of last year, Dan Leavers, aka Danalogue, has shared the cosmic, space-age ballad ‘Far Beyond The Sun’. Lifted from his debut solo LP, Teleportations, the song playfully explores the concept of crossing the galaxy to meet a treasured person in the afterlife. Teleportations is a warm and playful album that transforms endings and personal upheaval into a vivid sci-fi journey of escape, healing, and renewal. Listen to the beautiful composition below.

Whenever Brahja releases new music, you know you’re in for a treat, and their new album ‘INFINITY ZERO’ is no different. Led by Devin Brahja Waldman, the band has been delivering with each release from their quartet debut in 2011 to their brilliant self-titled album in 2019 and the stunning EEG Coherence in 2024. Dipping into their discography reveals a group constantly expanding its vocabulary, folding new textures, collaborators, and rhythmic provocations into a sound that remains unmistakably their own. Brajha’s latest album, INFINITY ZERO, is a mind-expanding fusion of jazz, hip-hop and electronic music. Once again, the virtuosic talent of saxophonist Waldman is on show alongside his collaborative ensemble, featuring Janice Lowe on flute and vocals, and Richard Maye on the MPC 3000. The album’s ambitious arrangements, particularly in the title track, span an impressive 16 minutes. Take a listen for yourself below.

Rosa Brunello recently announced her new album, We Are Surging Waters, out on Tommaso Cappellato’s Domanda Music. On her upcoming full-length, Brunello delivers nine tracks inspired by global grassroots movements, blending jazz, Middle Eastern traditions, improvisation and dub. Lead single ‘Witching Hour’ channels ritual energy and modernโ€‘day witchcraft, hypnotic grooves, spiritual lift, and sound used as a force to cut through apathy. With an album out on May 6th, we can’t wait to hear what Brunello has in store for us over the next few months, but for now, tune in below.

Mono Horizon launch their label in fine style. Berlin native T.H. Reingold, also known as Tom Clark, is the founder of Gold Plate and Highgrade Records. With over 20 years in the Berlin scene, he has played at legendary venues like Berghain and Watergate. He is reissuing the sought-after Sophisticated EP, with former Tresor resident Mad Max, featuring a brilliant remaster of its eclectic house-and-techno mix. In a nutshell, it’s a special record. 100% essential.

Londonโ€‘based saxophonist, composer and bandleader David Kayode announces his debut EP Ade Kayode, out April 10th, with first single ‘Nar Hedjouj’ out now. One of the most distinctive new voices in UK jazz, Kayode draws on Yoruba tradition, Afroโ€‘diasporic rhythm and contemporary improvisation, fusing carnival energy, spiritual depth and a distinctly London pulse. ‘Nar Hedjouj’ sets the tone, a highlife- and funkโ€‘inflected exploration of ancestral memory and movement, treating jazz as ritual, storytelling, and groove.
