Benjamin Samuels – Visions feat. Grifton Forbes-Amos (TS Premiere)

We’re excited to know that Benjamin Samuels has a new EP on the way, following his debut full-length album, Dissensation, in 2024. The Sydney-based saxophonist and composer is set to release the Visions EP through Worm Discs. Drawing from various shades of jazz to create something diverse and deeply grooving, Samuels is sharing the first drop from the EP.

Set to land tomorrow, the title track features Grifton Forbes-Amos (Tomorrow’s Warriors, TC & the Groove Family) on trumpet.

With Visions, the groove-led, Afrobeat‑tinged lead single, Samuels steps confidently into the next chapter of his sound world.

Samuels’ expressive compositional voice is in full focus, patient, melodic, and attuned to the subtleties of interplay. Forbes-Amos responds in kind, weaving lines that feel conversational rather than declarative. Their exchange is the heart of the track, a dialogue between London’s thriving jazz lineage and Sydney’s vibrant contemporary scene, where Samuels is carving out his own space.

The warmth this track radiates is just right as we come out of winter and settle into spring. It’s a promising glimpse of the EP to come.
