Conic Rose – twist (TS Premiere)

I remember the first time I discovered Conic Rose. I was excited to spread the word of this new band and highlighted their music on the blog and the radio.

Bursting with energy and diversity, Conic Rose remains entertainingly accessible, and their debut album ‘Heller Tag’ stood out in 2023 as a definitive first statement from a band that deserved recognition.

The Berlin-based quintet resurfaces today with ‘twist’, their first new music in over two years, and it’s a dazzling return.

For their upcoming second album, Wedding, the band chose a fresh direction, not by changing members, but by exploring new ideas for moving forward.

The lineup remains: Konstantin Döben (trumpet, flugelhorn), Bertram Burkert (guitar, bass), Johannes Arzberger (piano, synth), Franziska Aller (bass), Silvans Strauss (drums), with Nicholas Stampf (drums) on selected tracks.

And, despite these new perspectives, Conic Rose still sounds unmistakably themselves. Their signature mix of cinematic jazz, ambient textures, and guitar-led contemporary music continues on ‘twist’.

As the press release explains, “Wedding is, in many ways, the conceptual counterpart to their debut album Heller Tag. Where the debut documented movement within an urban setting, Wedding describes a state of being. Behind every piece seems to hover a large question mark.”

Enjoy ‘twist.’ Revisit their debut album. Wait for more beautiful music.
