The Leftovers

Treat your taste buds to these mouthwatering leftovers!

Keeping up with the daily flood of music that comes our way is impossible. We try to share everything, but some gems slip past us by. The Leftovers fixes that (a little): every Friday, we dig through the emails and drop five releases in bite-sized form we simply couldn’t ignore. This week brings finds from Georgia Duncan, Will Glaser, The Early, and more. Dig in and savour the finds.

Even though we’re a bit late with this (it dropped in September last year), we had to share it. It’s the debut album from London-based vocalist and songwriter, Georgia Duncan. With an impressive range of collaborators, including Ruth Goller (bass), Yusuf Ahmed (drums), and Harry Christelis (guitar), Four Ways To The Sun showcases Duncan’s mesmerising take on alt-folk, jazz at its most intimate and, at times, searing. The charm of this album lies in the sincerity of her delightful voice and the heartfelt lyrics, which evoke a warm feeling. One listen to ‘Song From a Yew’ or ‘Opening’ will melt your heart.

This week’s second pick is another album that was released last year (October). It took a bit of time to appreciate and fully get our heads around it. And, to be fair, it’s still taking a while to sink in. Proper genre-defying, experimental music from acclaimed UK musician Will Glaser, featuring nine celebrated guest collaborators. Those brilliant musical co-conspirators are Ruth Goller (double bass, vocals), Agathe Max (violin), Tara Cunningham (guitar), James Allsopp (bass clarinet), Jem Doulton (percussion), Alex Bonney (recorder), Ed Dudley (vocals), Lauren Kinsella (vocals) and Kirke Gross (cello). Glaser’s ambitious double album, Music Of The Terrazoku, blends experimental sounds, free improvisation, electro-acoustic soundscapes, and avant-garde ambient music. It claims to be an artefact from a transitional period in human history, set after the climate collapse in the late 21st century. Music Of The Terrazoku doesn’t imagine the future; it arrives as if it survived it. It’s rare for an artist to pull off its lofty ambitions this well. Press play, sit with it and absorb it all in.

We’re still in 2025 for pick number three. Succumb to the waves of mind-melting experimental rock and art rock improv that flow into your ears from The Early’s latest offering. Having joined Island House Recordings for the release of their new EP, the duo of Alex Lewis and Jake Nussbaum, with the help of Patrick Shiroishi, delivers three tracks that never rush but constantly unfold. This is, turn out the lights late at night, headphone music.

The final two picks are 2026 fresh! Brooklyn-based musician and vocalist Mattie Safer, aka lovetempo, continues to peel off the layers of his new album. ‘Never The Same’ is a jazz-tinged modern mid-tempo disco cut, taken from his forthcoming self-released debut album ‘There Is A Light’, out April 17th. Mattie’s buttery vocal tones are the perfect accompaniment to the bouncy, vibrant soundscape, and we can’t get enough!

Chicago-raised, Los Angeles-based guitarist, composer, and producer Gregory Uhlmann (SML, Perfume Genius, Hand Habits, Anna Butterss) recently announced Extra Stars, a new album out March 6 that serves as his solo debut for International Anthem. Accompanying the album announcement is lead single ‘Lucia’, which features International Anthem label-mate Alabaster DePlume.
