That’s where The Leftovers features come in; each Friday, we serve up five tasty morsels that we couldn’t let slip away into easily digestible snippets. This week, we’re showcasing new music from Alexander IV, ZHERAV, Melody’s Echo Chamber and more. Lap up these delectable treats.
Alexander IV is the alias of Dutch producer and multi-instrumentalist Joris Feiertag. While known for club tracks under the name Feiertag, this project ventures into hip-hop, soul, jazz, and cinematic beats. His debut album, ‘Alchemist’, features thirteen intricately crafted tracks blending introspective rhythms, soul, Afro-jazz, and future-funk, with special guest appearances. We really can’t wait to hear the rest of the record, but for now, dive in below.
New Zealand producer ZHERAV drops his debut double single, ‘NAJA / BAZAAR’, as part of Batov’s Middle Eastern Grooves series. It blends psychedelic rock, hypnotic rhythms, and electronic vibes into swinging grooves with cinematic, reverb-laden sounds. An excellent introduction, ZHERAV is definitely one to watch!
It’s been a while since we featured Paris-based musician Melody Prochet, aka Melody’s Echo Chamber, but she’s back with a new album and sounding better than ever. Crafted with the help of a stellar lineup of collaborators like El Michels Affair, Josefin Runsteen (strings), Daniel รgen (guitar), Love Orsan (bass), Malcolm Catto (drums), Reine Fiske (guitar) and co-produced by Swedish maestro Sven Wunder. Unclouded captures a moment of emotional clarity for Prochet, showcasing her at the most life-affirming point in her life. This album gracefully balances neo-psychedelia, rock and dreampop, creating a dreamy world that is freeing, spacious and downright infectious.
Duval Timothy and CJ Mirra are two boundaryโpushing UKโbased composers whose work spans experimental music, film scoring, and multidisciplinary art. Timothy, who’s no stranger to the site, blends piano minimalism with hipโhop and crossโcultural field recordings, while Mirra is known for atmospheric film and surfโculture soundtracks that merge electronics with live instrumentation. This February, the pair will release their collaborative film score for ‘My Fatherโs Shadow’. The lead track, ‘Journey To Lagos’, is waiting to captivate your ears below.
The very welcome return of drummer extraordinaire Chloe Kim to the site is with her new album of next-level percussive genius. On Ratsnake, Kim plays fearless improvisation with meticulous precision, carving out rhythm, texture, and structure with striking lucidity. The title draws from a dream her mother experienced before Kim was born, invoking the ratsnakeโa Korean emblem of resilience, power, and rare fortune. It’s a freewheeling drum odyssey that’s a proper head trip! Highly recommended.
