Album: Rubel – Beleza. Mas Agora A Gente Faz O Que Com Isso?

There’s nothing better than album art that captures the essence of the music within. The magical soundscapes Rubel crafts, using little more than his voice and guitar, are nothing short of magnificent.

Rubel’s fourth album is his most intimate and introspective work yet — born from a life-altering health crisis. After discovering a severe heart condition that required emergency surgery in 2023, the Brazilian singer-songwriter reassessed his priorities, and it shows in this collection of nine tracks.

The album strips away the polished production of his previous work, returning to his roots with a sublime, minimalist approach. The instrumentation is deliberately subtle, featuring delicate piano arrangements and orchestrations that complement rather than overshadow, firmly rooted in the MPB tradition.

There’s a lovely authenticity to the album. Rubel admits he stopped worrying about commercial success and focused solely on creating something “beautiful and true.” With inspiration from artists like João Gilberto and Jorge Ben Jor, he crafted these songs during a two-to three-month writing burst post-surgery, channelling his renewed perspective on life.

Standout tracks include ‘Ouro’, ‘Carta de Maria’, ‘Feiticeiro Gozador’, and his poetic cover of Radiohead’s ‘Reckoner. The album title itself translates roughly to “Beauty. But Now What Do We Do With This?” — captures the existential questioning that permeates the work.

This is Rubel at his most vulnerable and honest, creating music not for charts but as a celebration of life itself.
