Sunrise Vision opens ‘Three Lights in the Dark‘ with the kind of clarity you only get at the edge of dawn, when everything feels both fragile and wide open. Nelson Devereaux leads with a sax line that seems to rise out of the floorboards, bending through soft electronic haze while Cody McKinney’s bass circles underneath like a pulse trying to steady itself. Dave Power holds the centre with a groove that nods to hip-hop but keeps slipping just enough to stay human.

The trio recorded everything in one uninterrupted take, and that immediacy is baked into every phrase. Nothing feels overthought; ideas stretch, settle, shift again, like the players are chasing the same mirage and somehow catching it at the same time.

The title fits. Sunrise Vision feels like watching light reveal a world you didn’t know you were standing in, soft, psychedelic, slightly unreal. As an entry point into the trio’s improvised universe, it hits the sweet spot between meditation and motion.
