Brazilian-American guitarist, composer, and producer Fabiano do Nascimento recently announced a new album entitled Cavejaz.
Speaking about the title, Fabiano explains, “Kind of sounds like music coming from a cave with water and organic elements”.
Earthy and spacious, the opening number, ‘Aguas Serenas’, is a deep, textured track that immediately leans into the cave-like imagery.

Bringing along Paulo Santos, U-zhaan Ricardo ‘Tiki’ Pasillas and Jennifer Souza, the quintet crafted the album from guitar, electronics, tabla, voice and handmade percussion.
In August 2024, amidst one of the most severe wildfire seasons Brazil has ever faced, recording kicked off at Studio Ilha do Corvo in Belo Horizonte with producer Leo Marques.
The second part of Cavejaz unfolded in Japan, featuring tabla virtuoso U-zhaan. It includes a live show in a traditional Tokyo theatre and intimate solo sessions at Oiso’s SALO studio.
One track was also recorded live in Los Angeles with longtime partner in rhythm, Ricardo “Tiki” Pasillas.
Ahead of the release, you can also hear the tabla-infused sounds of ‘Olhos Luz’. Listen to both tracks below.
