With Sonolodge II, Israeli multi-instrumentalist Eyal Talmudi expands his vision of deep listening into a lush, meditative sound world. The album feels both spontaneous and deliberate, born from improvisation yet grounded in emotional precision.
Working alongside frequent collaborator Rejoicer, and joined by Nitai Hershkovits, Jenny Penkin, and Ariel Qassis, Talmudi crafts a space where jazz, ambient, and spiritual improvisation meet like ripples on still water.
The opener. ‘When You Arrive’ sets the tone with airy woodwinds and soft synth undercurrents, evoking the gentle anticipation of entering an unfamiliar place. Later, ‘Winds Are Dancing’, featuring the ethereal vocals of Jenny Penkin, feels like the project’s emotional peak, a graceful hymn that swirls between prayer and dream, merging saxophone warmth with Penkin’s celestial phrasing.
Across its eleven tracks, Sonolodge II captures the essence of Talmudi’s artistry: freedom without chaos, serenity without stagnation. It’s a beautifully cohesive meditation that rewards patience and invites surrender, a rare balance of improvisation and intention.
