The Leftovers

Treat your taste buds to these mouthwatering leftovers!

Trying to keep up with the daily deluge of music is like trying to drink from a firehose. While we do our best to share all the good music that comes our way, some gems inevitably slip through the cracks. That’s where The Leftovers features come in; each Friday, we serve up five tasty morsels that we couldn’t let slip away into easily digestible snippets. This week, we’re showcasing new music from MADMADMAD, The Dwarfs of East Agouza, SML and more. Lap up these delectable treats.

Tottenham-hailing trio MADMADMAD continues to impress with their colourful, vivid and delightfully disorienting sonics. Possibly their finest work yet, the Run EP bursts with electronic brilliance, reflecting the chaos of the world around them. We’ll keep this brief: hit play alreadyโ€”you won’t regret it!

The Dwarfs of East Agouza, the psychedelic musical trio from Cairo, unleashes a wonderful collection of ten tracks filled with delirium and awesome chaos. Each song in Sasquatch Landslide is shaped by punk and oud techniques that harmonise together folk layers with ambient electronics. While the chaos persists, there exists an order that gives every sound of the album purpose. Songs such as ‘Saber Tooth Millipede’, ‘A Body To Match’, and ‘Goldfish Molasses’ show the untethered nature of the grooves and tunes of the tracks in the album. Boundaries are easily dissolved in Sasquatch Landslide, and the result is beautiful chaos.

Caoilfhionn Rose’s voice carries an inexplicably soothing and warm tone that immediately resonates with you. The moment you press play on the new track ‘Illusions’, those rich, buttery tones welcome you warmly. Accompanied by a blissfully soothing jazz dub soundscape from Svaneborg Kardyb, open your ears to let this marvellous song wash over you.

Producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Momoko Gill is undoubtedly one of our favourite new artists, from collaborations with Alabaster DePlume, Matthew Herbert, and Nadeem Din-Gabisi, to name a few. Gill is carving out an influential presence, for further proof of why she’s got us all excited, check out the pulsating ‘No Others’ and the electric ‘When Palestine Is Free.’ Both tracks can be found on her forthcoming self-titled debut album, which is set to land in February next year. We are eager to hear what Momoko has planned for us with the rest of the album!

Without a doubt, SML is one of my favourite bands right now! After impressing with ‘Taking Out the Trash’, the LA-based quintet has revealed the second track from their upcoming album, How You Been. As expected, ‘Chicago Four’ serves up another delightful glimpse of the band. Hit play below and hear it for yourself!
