Trying to keep up with the daily deluge of music is like trying to drink from a firehose. While we do our best to share all the good music that comes our way, some gems inevitably slip through the cracks. Treat yourself to The Leftovers, featuring five essential music picks to satisfy your musical cravings this week. Today, we’re showcasing new music from Stargazers, Yazz Ahmed, Matt Bachmann and more. Lap up these delectable treats.

Last week, London-based imprint Night Dreamer introduced the new visionary Amsterdam-based ensemble Stargazers and announced the release of their self-titled debut album. Drawing on the spiritual, freedom-driven sound of 1960s/1970s Black jazz, Stargazers breathe new life into the introspective, quietly crafted, and previously hidden musical diary of the ensemble’s orchestrator, saxophonist, flautist, and composer, Finn Peters. The lead single, ‘The Second Day,’ is streaming below.

Women In Jazz’s ‘one song a month for a year’ series continues with British-Bahraini trumpeter and composer Yazz Ahmed. Her new single, ‘My Heart Will Not Forget You’, is a stunning reimagining of a Fijiri-inspired lament – intimate, layered, and deeply moving. Listen to the track below; it’s one of the series’ best. Women In Jazz Vol. 1 is out on December 5th.

If you are searching for an album that is uniquely captivating and thought-provoking, your search ends here. Last month, Matt Bachmann shared his latest record, Compost Karaoke. Combining elements of driving jazz, intimate chamber music, and 80s Japanese synth, Bachmann narrates a story that is both dramatic and personal, beautiful yet grand.  Compost Karaoke is an album that reveals its charm more enticingly with each listen. Unravelling its many layers unveils intricate twists and turns that surprise and delight.

We are always excited to hear about new releases from Finnish label We Jazz Records, and their latest offering sounds like another winner. Their debut album, Miss America, is set for release on 21st November. To give you a taste of what’s on offer, the duo has shared the title track.
