The Leftovers

Treat your taste buds to these mouthwatering leftovers!

Trying to keep up with the daily deluge of music is like trying to drink from a firehose. While we do our best to share all the good music that comes our way, some gems inevitably slip through the cracks. That’s where The Leftovers features come in; each Friday, we serve up five tasty morsels that we couldn’t let slip away into easily digestible snippets. This week, we’re showcasing new music from MADMADMAD, Joanna Duda Trio, Eje Eje and more. Tuck in and savour the delightful tidbits.

MAMMADMAD is the project of Benji Bouton, Kevin Toublant, and Matt Kelly. The trio recently announced a new EP, Run and shared the first single, Spin Wave. Enjoy the track below!

Last week, the Joanna Duda Trio emerged from a near four-year hiatus, dazzling listeners with their new track, When The Truffles Get Dry. From the very first note, Polish pianist Joanna Duda invites you into a world where inventive rhythms and melodies dance with a mesmerising intensity. This delightful composition was worth the waitโ€”give it a listen below.

ลžatellitesโ€™ Itamar Kluger recently announced his solo return with the delightfully moody atmospherics of โ€˜Horrorizonโ€™. Under the moniker  Eje Eje, Itamar combines psychedelic rock and funk with influences such as Levantine dabke, Persian bandari, Khaliji music, Turkish folk, Afrobeat, Saharan blues, indie rock, electronica, and Jamaican roots and dub. The track is a slow burn, blending monotonous drums, harsh bouzouki, a mantric bassline, old-school Greek keys, and vintage ambience and percussion. Enjoy the track!

Last week, International Anthem announced Hyperglyph, the first new album in 11 years from composer, trumpeter, and synthesist Rob Mazurek and composer and percussionist Chad Taylor, under the Chicago Underground Duo moniker. The record, titled Hyperglyph, is set to drop on August 15th. In the meantime, dive into the upbeat vibes of its lively lead track, ‘Click Song’, right below.

Itโ€™s safe to say that when we first heard Blue Earth Sound’s debut track โ€˜Mariposaโ€˜, we were instant fans. Chicago’s Blue Earth Sound is the project of multi-instrumentalist and composer James Weir; their forthcoming album ‘Cicero Nights‘ is set to add to the already rich tapestry of jazz-leaning experimental music out of Chicago. Ahead of the album, they’ve shared a new track, the lovely, psychedelic, soulful sound of โ€˜Loverโ€™s Rockโ€™. Catch the vibes below.
