With ‘Teeth’, The Circling Sun deliver a slow-burning, seven-minute transmission from deep within their spiritual jazz cosmos. Premiering ahead of the album’s release, the track stands as one of Orbits’ most intriguing and expansive cuts, equal parts meditative groove and astral exploration. Drawing from the legacy of Azymuth, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, and Yusef Lateef’s Atlantic-era records, ‘Teeth’ unfolds in layers: rooted in a propulsive, polyrhythmic foundation and gradually orbiting outward with shimmering keys, breathy horns, and psychedelic textures.
Unlike the more immediate accessibility of ‘Mizu’ or the grandeur of ‘Constellation’ this piece rewards patience. Its hypnotic structure suggests movement without destination, more ritual than roadmap, pulling listeners into a trance-state where cosmic jazz meets earthy intuition. While we’re still waiting for the full release of Orbits (out July 11th), ‘Teeth’ promises a rawer, darker corner of the album’s interstellar palette.
If the three tracks we’ve heard so far are any indication, Orbits won’t merely continue The Circling Sun’s journey; it’ll push them far beyond known space.
