Dominic J Marshall directs every aspect of Fire-breathing Lion as the sole creator through performance and the production and composition of its individual elements. The solo production unites jazz music with electronic and cinematic flair which produce a rich polyphony of acoustic piano with synth bass, Moog melodies and electronic drums working harmoniously together.
Marshall’s musical influences encompass Herbie Hancock’s fusion style and the surreal images of David Lynch which listeners will discover throughout the album. The album moves from jazz pieces into pulsating rhythm sections and structures that melt into surreal atmospheres. The bass guitar and Fender Rhodes weave in soft, rich layers, while the electronic instruments add a splash of progressive, futuristic flair to the mix.
The album maintains deep personal connections through Marshall’s artistic wisdom and influence which shines through all its musical elements. The creative development of both melodic harmonies and rhythmic movements by Marshall keeps Fire-breathing Lion equally impressive to listen to and emotionally moving.
