Twistedsoul Presents: Blue-In-Green:RADIO Guest Mix ~ Yusuf Ahmed

We’re thrilled to present another episode in our collaborative project with Twistedsoul which sees Colin Smith curate an incredible series this month showcasing the scintillating selections of London-based drummer, producer and improviser, Yusuf Ahmed.

Last month’s captivating ‘Live at Mu’ release alongside guitarist Harry Christelis is indicative of the boundless imagination attached to anything Yusuf Ahmed touches: four improvised pieces clocking in at nearly 45 minutes seems to be the setting Ahmed finds himself happiest within. Through an extensive list of collectives, ensembles and world class performers including Qwalia, Allysha Joy, Soothsayers, Anoushka Shankar and Unknown to Known, Ahmed’s affections for collaboration continually shine through gifting listeners some sensational results each time. Special mention goes to the enthralling releases found on the Maps for Getting Lost record label where you’ll find a fantastic array of largely improvised releases alongside Unknown to Known.

The extra special guest set finds Ahmed spinning an intricate set of tunes, many bestowed with the Yusuf Ahmed touch as well – Charles Lloyd, Qwalia, Jeff Buckley, Bernard Woma, Louis Armstrong, Bill Frisell plus many more.

A massive thanks to Colin and Twistedsoul for this incredible series. Twistedsoul’s radio show airs Thursdays at 10pm, exclusive to Blue-in-Green:RADIO.
