Silvan Strauss is set to release his second album ‘FLUKIN’ this Friday. The album consists of 10 tracks and finds the drummer collaborating with the likes of Mehdi Qamoum, Joe Armon-Jones and Farhot.
The penultimate track on the album- “OFF KEY” is a smooth blend of hip-hop and urban jazz, creating a refreshing ambience. It features rapper Oscar Nyanin aka Oscar #Worldpeace. Three minutes long, this track starts with electric beats and Silvan’s jazz drums accompany the tune to produce a jamming rhythm. Oscar’s steady introduction to the beat makes the song an instant earworm and something that’ll play on repeat. The background drum beats and electric rhythm remain consistent throughout the whole song as Oscar raps his verses.
The new album combines Silvan’s jazz beats with modern electric instruments to produce a sound that is fresh yet somehow nostalgic. Strauss made his debut as a producer and drummer in 2021 with the LP “FACING” and received the Hamburg Jazz Prize. Silvan’s music focuses on the expression of freedom and artistry, as opposed to the current oversaturated industry that focuses on popular sounds and consumption.
Silvan’s signature dynamic groove style in drumming is evident throughout the album, providing an innovative soundbed for his collaborators. Listen to the track below, and if you’re aiming to snag the limited edition vinyl, head over here—act fast because there won’t be many left!
