We’ve been tailing this contemporary jazz collective from its first chord, witnessing it evolve and refine its sound with every new release. The Awen Ensemble graced us in April with their stunning debut album “Cadair Idris.” And now, they’re back with an equally mesmerising five-track EP. Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Nyron Higor has announced a new self-titled album. The album features Johanna, Nathalia Grilo, Alici Sol and Bruno Berle. Check out the lead single, “São Só Palavras,” featuring Sol and Berle; it captures the lightness and depth of young love in a fleeting minute-and-a-half moment of soaring brilliance.
“Fall Forward”, the new track from Australian-born, Berlin-based drummer and percussionist Eilis Frawley, is full of bounce and quirky vibes—it’s an absolute blast! It’s the title track from Frawley’s album, due out next year on March 7th, 2025. The press release states that the album is… ” a kaleidoscope-like patchwork of Kraut, Hip Hop, Spoken Word, and Indie, with lyrics written over years on planes, trains, and buses, telling personal stories of nostagia, reflecting on the idea of home, mental health and relationships between all kinds of people.”
After 20 years of living in the digital realm, the long-lost vinyl album “Kosmischer Pitch” by Jan Jelinek returns in physical glory! Initially released in 2005 via ~scape, this remastered gem is back on vinyl, just in time for its 20th anniversary. As an added treat, the digital version includes two previously unreleased tracks.
Following their acclaimed debut album from a few years back, the Şatellites set the scene for their second LP ‘Aylar’ with the enticing “Tisladi Mehmet Emmi”. The group reimagined a Turkish folk song by Aşık Ali Doğan and turned it into a modern psychedelic funk masterpiece. Look out for the new album, but for now, enjoy “Tisladi Mehmet Emmi” below.
