The Leftovers

Treat your taste buds to these mouthwatering leftovers!

Friday has rolled around again, and what better way to end the week than with some scrumptious musical leftovers? We’ve got five releases to share, served up in bite-sized chunks for your enjoyment. This week, Future Bubblers 8.0 is here; trumpet virtuoso and improv wizard Peter Evans debuts on We Jazz Records and guitar guru Jeff Parker has gifted us with a colossal seventeen-minute journey. Plus, Valentina Magaletti and Jeugdbrand team up for a free improv collaboration, and Kayla Painter rolls out an intriguing array of experimental electronic treats.

Gilles Peterson and Brownswood Recordings will release the latest instalment of their Future Bubblers compilation series, “Future Bubblers 8.0,” on November 15th. Backed by Arts Council England and PRS Foundation, the project is a unique platform for emerging, unsigned talent in the UK,  blending R&B, soul, funk, rap, and electronic music across six eclectic tracks. Check out the lead single “Damn” by Leicester-based psychedelic Space-Soul band Shadeemus.

Celebrated trumpet virtuoso, improviser, and composer Peter Evans debuts on We Jazz Records with his latest work, ‘Extra’. The album features Evans on trumpet, Petter Eldh handling the bass, and Jim Black on drums. Check out “Boom,” the latest peek taken from the album.

Guitarist Jeff Parker has just revealed his latest album,ย The Way Out of Easy. The album features his long-standing ETA IVtet ensemble, with saxophonist Josh Johnson, bassist Anna Butterss, and drummer Jay Bellerose. The album announcement also includesย the lead track, “Late Autumn.” The epic seventeen-minute track includes a full-length film by multimedia artist and musician Mikel Patrick Avery.

Another week, another sublime collaborative project from Valentina Magaletti. This time, she’s facing off with Jeugdbrand, the trio comprised of percussionist Jeroen Stevens, Ultra Eczema’s Belgian legend Dennis Tyfus, and Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson from Stilluppsteypa. Together, they’re whipping up a surreal spectacle for Germany’s Stoma Street Verlag.

Kayla Painter unveils a collection of experimental electronic compositions, drawing inspiration from such luminaries as Delia Derbyshire, Autechre, and Brian Eno. Across eight tracks, she weaves complex and intricate textures that navigate the realm where knowledge meets imagination.
