Staying current with new music feels like a Herculean task; it’s borderline impossible. With weekly album releases, EP’s and singles, the sheer volume of music can make it all too easy for gems to go under the radar. So every Friday in bite-sized form we offer up five must-hear music releases you’ll want to clear your schedule for.

Steering Brazilian music into uncharted territories, Dora Morelenbaum is poised to drop her debut album. Dipping into disco, MPB, soul, R&B, and jazz, the album gets an indie pop makeover thanks to Brazilian star and co-producer Ana Frango Elรฉtrico. Morelenbaum has served a peek with “Caco” to get the ball rolling.

Dive into the vibrant funk, soul, and jazz grooves with North West London’s triple threat, Lynda Dawn. The singer, songwriter, and producer just dropped her new single, “Where You Are,” on her First Dawn Records label. Dawn, with the helping hand of Al Dobson Jr, gives ’80s boogie a shiny new coat of paint.

London duo The Quiet Ones strike again with an impressive four-track EP teeming with soul, jazz, and bossa nova earworms you’ll find impossible to shake.

Lady Blackbird hints about her anticipated second album,ย Slang Spirituals, with an exclusive vinyl promo. Boasting five tracks, this eclectic collection offers a delicious glimpse into her upcoming LP’s various musical paths. It’s worth the ยฃ20 just for the beautiful “Purify“. It’s out on Ross Allen’s excellent Foundation Music label.

Max Jaffe has been juggling tasks like a circus performer. Hot on the heels of his collaborative album with Dave Harrington and Patrick Shiroishi, released earlier this year, he’s just getting warmed up. Check out “The Simp” from Jaffe’s upcoming LP Reduction of Man. Over the track’s five-minute duration, Jaffee goes head-to-head with trumpet virtuoso Chris Williams, conjuring a dizzying, time-warping masterpiece. They deftly fill the empty spaces with elastic stretches while Will Greene’s guitar riffs spiral back on themselves in a mesmerising loop.
