Album: Damian Dallla Torre – I Can Feel My Dreams

Damian Dalla Torre‘s I Can Feel My Dreams is a boundary-busting odyssey from the Leipzig-based avant-garde maestro. Blending electronic, jazz, and and avant-pop twists, he conjures up a hypnotic soundscape that feels like stepping into a sonic dreamworld. Each track is a masterful interplay of genres, swirling together to create music that’s as unpredictable as it is entrancing.

Conceived during a Santiago residency, the album draws from Andean quena flutes, synths, and field recordings. Collaborations with Ruth Goller, Miriam Adefris, and Christian Balvig enrich the sound.

“Ago” introduces a dreamlike aura, but the standout title track epitomises Dalla Torre’s skill in merging haunting melodies with complex rhythms that linger long after the final note.

The album’s unity doesn’t overshadow gems like the eerie “Santi” and reflective “Memo,” highlighting Dalla Torre’s range and boundary-pushing ethos. The Guardian praises it as detailed enough to surpass New Age clichés, deeming it a strong album of the year candidate. We can’t help but concur.

I Can Feel My Dreams is a celebration of Dalla Torre’s limitless imagination, inviting listeners into a world of beauty and awe. The only thing left to add is that Dalla Torre is basically a musical Einstein. Soaking in his distinct musical language will cradle your body, warm your heart, and tickle your brain in all the right ways— press play you will not be disappointment.
